about

If there is one word that describes who God is it is the word Holy. In Isaiah 6 the prophet is carried up in a vision to the throne room of God where he sees the Lord, "high and lifted up." He sees angelic creatures surrounding the throne and hears their song of praise. The song is a chorus that declares that God is Holy, Holy, Holy. The word means that God is different than anything we have ever seen or known. He is perfect literally "other" than we are. Everything that we come in contact with in this life is temporary and imperfect. God is eternal and has no flaws whatsoever. It is the central mystery of the gospel that this holy God would choose to love imperfect people like myself, and it gives us good reason to join in with the angelic chorus and sing that God is indeed Holy, Holy, Holy.

lyrics

Holy

Oh God you are brighter
Than all the stars
Consuming fire
Come and wash our stains away
Until we shine like you
Lift our hearts to heaven as we say
Angels sing

Holy

Oh God you are higher
Than all we desire
Come and burn the dark away
Till all that's left is you
Lift our hearts to heaven as we say
Angels sing

Holy

Merciful and gracious
You have come to save us
Merciful and gracious
You have come
You have come

Holy

So in a round about way if you hate this music it is his fault. Worship is an amazing gift that God has given his church to respond to the overwhelming sense of awe and adoration we get when he truly reveals himself to us ... more
